Burning Ban Lifted 5/3/16

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

BAN ON ALL OUTDOOR BURNING

 

Due to the dry, windy, weather, the Pike County Commissioners have declared a county-wide ban on all outdoors burning.  This includes all burning of brush, leaves, garbage, etc. as well as campfires. (This includes burning in barrels with screened tops.)

With Burning Ban provisions of the Dingman Township Fire Protection Ordinance are automatically brought into effect with the imposition of the burning ban by the Commissioners.  The Township Ordinance includes prohibitions not included in the County edict but must be adhered to.

Violators will be subject to fines and prosecution costs.  They may also be subject to the paying the costs of the fire department extinguishing the fire whether it be putting out the materials being burned or any brush fires that may result from the burning.

Still permitted is the use of outdoor LP and charcoal barbecues and smokers provided that the cooking is done in a standard unit designed for that purpose, the cook or other responsible adult is supervising from a reasonable distance, and there is an appropriate means to extinguish the fire.  The unattended use of barbecues and smokers is prohibited.

The burning ban is scheduled to be lifted May 22nd but may be extended if conditions warrent.
