2016 Fall Clean-up and Electronics Recycling Day Report

On September 17, 2016, Dingman Township held its annual Fall Clean-up and Electronics Recycling Day where residents, for a modest charge, may bring their hard to dispose of items.  Items such as tires, white goods, and scrap metal are taken to the proper facilities for recycling.  Bulky items such as mattresses, furniture, etc. are hauled away for proper disposal. 

For many years now, the Township has incorporated electronics recycling into the program.  Residents may bring, at no charge, their old televisions, computers, telephones, etc. as well as consumer and car batteries for recycling.

Despite a lower than usual turn out, the Township managed to collect a lot of material that might otherwise be dumped illegally for lack of other alternatives.

While the total amount of material that was collected has not been tallied yet, the following is the amount of materials that were collected for recycling:

Electronic items – 15 yards including:

33 Televisions

10 VCR/DVD/Gaming systems and similar

18 Computers

  5 Laptop computers

  7 Computer monitors

  2 Power supplies

  2 Microwave ovens

15 Speakers

11 Stereo receivers/Amplifiers/Radios

16 Printers

18 Telephones

+ hundreds of misc. items

Batteries

3 gallon container of regular batteries (alkaline, zinc/carbon, etc.)

3 gallon container of rechargeable batteries (laptop, cell phone, etc.)

Scrap metal

Over 30 yards

Items utilizing Freon  

15 items in which the Freon will be removed before recycling
