2014 Scarecrows in the Park

Wind gusts of more than 30 mph and an icy wind chill did not stop the kids from picking their pumpkins and enjoying all the play stations at the Dingman Township Recreation Commission’s Scarecrows in the Park

Over 600 visitors, young and old alike, enjoyed the day with petrified pumpkin painting, scarecrow bowling, and face painting for the youth.  With help from James Leiser they also fine tuned their skills in mini- golf putting.  Macaroni the Clown treated the kids to balloon animals while the Dingman Township Volunteer Fire Department gave out pumpkin backpacks and play fire helmets.

Moms and Dads were able to browse the vendor and market booths that displayed local wares and enjoyed the music played live throughout the day by Charlie Reynolds, Matthew King, Olivia Zinn and her brother Gary Zinn.

The concession stand was operated by the Eastern Pike Soccer Club which served everything from pumpkin flavored funnel cakes to gourmet quality pulled pork sandwiches.

The Scarecrow Contest competition was the highlight of the day with numerous entries vying in several categories.  One scarecrow even talked to the crowd.

Offering something for everyone, Scarecrows in the Park was an overwhelming success!

The Recreation Commission would like to thank all the volunteers and participants!  The Commission is hoping to make this as an annual community event and is already starting to plan for next year.  Would you like to help?  Volunteers are always welcome. Please call Julie Forbes at 570-296-8455
