Recycling
Effective
September 1, 2013, recycling is mandatory in Dingman
Township. This is required for Dingman Township to
be compliant with State Act 101. As such, every
residential property with individual garbage pick-up
must make arrangements with their waste hauler to
collect their recyclables. Those living in
communities and apartments where a centralized
collection station is provided by the community or
apartment complex owner, must deposit their recyclables
in the bins provided. Commercial property owners
should contact the Township Office to find out the
requirements specific to their business.
Yard waste
(leaves, sticks, dead garden plants, etc.) must be
composted. The preferred methods as specified in
the ordinance are:
1.
Allowing the material to naturally decompose on site.
2.
Allowing the material to naturally decompose nearby
(e.g. raking leaves that fall onto a lawn into the
forest).
3.
Composting on-site (compost pile)

Electronics
Recycling:
Effective 1/24/13,
State law made it illegal to dispose of electronic
devices in the trash. All electronic devices must
be recycled.
Dingman Township collects electronic goods (TVs,
computers, video games, etc.) for recycling at the Spring and Fall Clean-up Days. See the
Calendar of Events page for dates and times.
In addition to Clean-Up Days, cell phones may be
brought to the Township Building for recycling, week
days during business hours.
Pike County also holds an
annual recycling day for electronic goods. The drop off
location varies from year-to-year. Look in the
local newspapers for date, time, and drop off location.
Several Pike County businesses will accept electronic goods for recycling at a nominal fee. One Milford area bank also holds an electronics recycling day. Watch local newspapers for details.
State law requires that
certain dealers of electronic devices provide recycling
services to their customers. Before you buy a new
television, computer, etc., ask if the store will accept
your old one for recycling.

White Goods Recycling
Twice a year Dingman Township holds a "Township
Clean-up Day". Township residents may bring bulky
items to the Township Garage for proper disposal. (A fee
is charged.) White goods (e.g. washing machines,
clothes dryers, refrigerators, etc.) are recycled as are
other metal items such as swing sets, bicycles, steel
cabinets, etc. Unfortunately,
other bulky items such as sofas and carpeting are landfilled.

Car Battery
Recycling:
Car, truck, ATV, boat, and lawn tractor batteries
may be disposed of for recycling at the semi-annual
Township Clean-up Days. See the
Calendar of Events page for dates and times
of the next Clean-up day.

Consumer batteries (such as
D cells, AA cells, AAA cells, hearing aid batteries, and
rechargeable batteries such as those found in cell phones, lap
top computers, etc.) and old cell phones may be brought
to the Township Building during work days or brought to
Township Clean-up Days.

Super Market Bag Recycling:
Plastic grocery bags may be deposited for recycling at
Price Chopper, Wal-mart, or Shop-Rite.

Violations
People disposing of items
not approved for recycling in recycling bins, outside the bins, or otherwise violating the
recycling rules may be found in violation of State,
County and Municipal laws and may be subject to fines
and/or jail time as specified by law.
