I am taking this opportunity to inform you to clarify how we will want to see piping during inspections and to inform you of a product that is NOT approved for use in sewage disposal systems.
Bedding Pipes
Effective immediately, all building sewers (pipe from house to treatment tank), pipe between tanks, and delivery line to the mound must be bedded at the time of inspection. The bedding material may be sand, fine aggregate, or clean soil. Pipes lying un-bedded on the trench bottom or propped up by rocks will result in the inspection failing.
Label Up
All pipes will be required to have the labels facing up. If the label can not be read, the pipe will have to be removed and reset. Another inspection will be required. This includes laterals in the mound.
No Cellular Core Pipe
Cellular core pipe (also known as foam core pipe) is available in sch-40 PVC. It is lighter and reportedly cheaper than standard PVC. Unfortunately, it is not approved for use in sewage disposal systems. Therefore, any cellular core pipe found in a system will be considered a violation.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 570-296-9260 Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 10:30am.
