Instructions / Worksheet
|
This worksheet is to aid in the sizing of
the water supply and distribution system for
RESIDENTIAL applications. This guide has
been designed utilizing the text and tables
found in the 2003 International Residential
Code. This guide is intended to be used in
conjunction with the IRC or accepted
engineering practices. Therefore Dingman
Township does not assume any responsibility
for errors or omissions in the design of the
water supply system. |
STEP ONE:
1. Fill in
table
#4
using table #2
and based on the proposed design |
2. Enter total W.S.F.U. demand from
table #4 |
|
3. Enter the developed pipe length to
the most remote fitting |
|
4. Multiply the developed length by
1.2 for pressure loss from fittings |
|
5. Minimum daily static pressure at
the source (40 psi minimum) |
40 |
6. Deduct pressure losses for
filters, regulators, etc. |
|
7. Add (or subtract) 1/2 lb. pressure
per foot of rise (or fall) |
|
8. Enter required minimum pressure
needed. |
|
|
STEP
TWO:
9. Find minimum pressure range in
table
#1 |
10. Find maximum developed length in
chart row |
11. Find total number of total W.S.F.U.
in that column |
12. Slide over to left hand columns to
mind min. supply and distribution pipe size |

Notes:
a. The
fixture unit value 2.5 assumes a flow
demands of 2.5 gpm, such as for an
individual lawn sprinkler device. If a
hose bib/silcock will be required to furnish
a greater flow rate the equivalent
fixture-unit may be obtained from Table
P2903.6 or Table 2903.7.
b.
Includes water closet, lavatory, and tub
(with or without shower) or shower stall. |
